Everybody Hurts is not just a bad 80's song.

This image reminds me for some reason of something I read by Frederick Douglass on how he felt sorry for slave masters. Because the society was built on slavery, many masters who had illegitimate children with their slaves (usually via rape) would then have to beat and sell their own children. Sons and daughters would be served, have to beat or sell off their own brothers and sisters. Wives, knowing of infidelity, would become angry and enraged, households would be thick soups of stifled rage. Now we got the impoverished mess that is the southern US, probably a product of 400 years of compacted trauma and insanity.

'Merica. Peuw Peuw!

So let me ask then, what is the psychological effect of pitting our men and women in uniform against peaceful people (their neighbors and fellow humans) protecting their homes? What do they think of having to take on orders that is against the moral fiber of any good upbringing? My attention is suddenly draw to the officer of African descent, what is going on in his head? Is he thinking of the oppression his own people faced, brutal slavery justified and disguised as economic need and progress? Are any of the men with caucaisian pigment decendents of conolnialized or enslaved europeans, like the Scottish, Polish, Armenian, Ukranian, Checz, Irish?

BUT THEY CAN OBJECT! Wrong. Our police officers in this situation sadly do not have the right of conscientious objection. If they disobey, they can be fired and have charges pressed against them- meaning they loose their community and livelihood, AND go to the jail they used to put "bad guys" in. I'm sure none of these people signed up to the force to be glorified security officers for private gas companies.

At 2:21- Look at the Solider's eyes.
